| Take a walk down the Red Carpet
I was in the mood to try something different. Maybe that's how I ended up at Red Carpet Restaurant on Avenue L and Main Street. I approached a front door framed by large windows and two trees. Beside the door, a chalkboard announced the day's meal: Blackened pork chops buerre rouge. Red Carpet Restaurant is different from other Lubbock eateries because its owner, Chef Carlos, prepares only one meal each day. Customers enter, sit down and after browsing the salad bar, are brought the meal of the day. When I entered the restaurant, I was not fully aware of this procedure, but the staff promptly welcomed me and gave instructions. I seated myself in a booth along the wall and observed my surroundings: I like the looks of Red Carpet Restaurant, but I was rather taken aback by the amount of smoke in the room (I gather it was smoke from the kitchen).
Ministry provides food for the body and soul
Every community wants something to benefit its citizens help them grow. That is just what Angel Food Ministries at First Baptist Church of Trumann is doing. Angel Food Ministries has existed for about 11 years. The ministry started with a husband and wife team in Good Hope, Ga. The couple just wanted to create a type of supplement grocery program to help families. Since that time, it has become nationwide. Trumann's First Baptist Church has been doing this program since December of last year. "The only requirement you must have is that you eat," said Peggy Rathbun, one of the coordinators of the ministry in Trumann. "You eat, you qualify!" Rathbun said the program is non-denominational and everyone is welcome to participate. Things such as income and number of children are not considered.

The northernmost town of the Outer Banks, Corolla (pronounced cor-AH-la) has seen exponential growth since 1984, when Highway 12 was extended north. In addition to its multimillion-dollar vacation homes, this old fishing village is now known for the Currituck Lighthouse and a band of wild ponies living north of town. Where to eat To satisfy that appetite for something Mexican, go to the Bad Bean Taqueria, the best Mexican restaurant on the Outer Banks. The Bean has fantastic burritos and tacos and also terrific and unusual daily specials. It is worth a trip if anywhere close in the area. Urban Eats: A Lunch Oasis in Burbank
I'm in Burbank frequently and often find myself very preoccupied with finding a good lunch place. I've exhausted all the places on San Fernando near the Burbank Media Center and usually I just want a good sandwich that isn't in sub form (although Santoro's Italian Cold Cut is a favorite) or isn't something from Porto's (again, another frequently visited spot). Across from Porto's I've found what seems to be an anomaly in Burbank: a minimalist gourmet café called Urban Eats. The menu is mainly comprised of healthy salads and sandwiches. You can also order meats a la carte like marinated grilled steak, seared sesame ahi or grilled chicken breast and pair them with a variety of sides like cilantro lime rice, mac n' cheese or roasted beets & feta salad. I also really like the fact that you can design your own salad, choosing from a pretty ample list of “choppings" and cheeses.
