From Gewrztraminer to Hefeweizen and Pinots to porters, the selection of beverages at one of Beckley's newest businesses is something to raise your glass to.Throw in a few gourmet foods and snacks, add a variety of fine cigars, and the draw to the Wine Depot at Beckley Crossing becomes hard to resist. For the last month, 24-year-old Kerri Bailey has combined her experience as a bartender with an inherited knack for running a small business. Egged On With Style

Easter is certainly about eggs, but don't put all your eggs in the Easter basket. Put them on the dinner table, too.

Eggs are one of the more fascinating foods. They can be cooked in so many ways and used for so many different purposes, from helping a cake rise to creating a smooth emulsion in mayonnaise or Hollandaise.

The reputation of the egg went through a rough patch a few years ago when scientists associated it with an increased risk of heart disease. That's changed, though, and even the American Heart Association approves of moderate consumption of an egg a day in a diet that contains an average daily cholesterol consumption of 300 mg or less.

Eggs are loaded with nutrition: protein, and vitamins A, B2 and D.

Eggs are not fat-free, but of the 5 grams in one egg, only 1.5 grams are saturated, an unhealthy fat.

Central Park Pizza, a grand slam

Batter up! Spring training is over. The outfield is green. And Major League Baseball has brought back the boys of summer for another exciting season. While everyone's trying to figure out how to get out of the stadium parking lot, why not spend your time improving your swing and catching a great meal? Central Park Pizza may be hidden in the Batcade, but the food is definitely out of the park.On my first visit to Central Park Pizza, I took a group of friends more interested in taking their cuts in the batting cages than eating from what they assumed would be typical concession-stand fare. If your line-up card included over-priced hot dogs and nachos, you should have headed for Chavez Ravine.Central Park Pizza has an Italian-based menu that rivals that of any formal restaurant. Sure, there are plastic tables and chairs, but who needs linen tablecloths and a wine list when you can enjoy fettuccine Alfredo in a splash of white wine or chicken Marsala marinara with fresh basil in a sweet wine, tomato and herb sauce? Plus, they serve gourmet pizzas and sandwiches. We ordered a couple of pizzas.

Apollo: Mythological dining experience

Just because a restaurant has been around for a little while doesnt mean the quality of food has lessened or the menu selections have become boring.

Even on weeknights the Apollo Grill, 85 W. Broad St., fills up with customers from the area who continue to leave satisfied and pleased after a delicious meal.

With good reason, Apollo has been voted Best Overall Restaurant in Lehigh Valley Magazines Best of the Valley, for all eight years it has been open.

Apollo also received 2006 awards for the best appetizers and the best desserts.

Although its not as grandiose or extravagant as Melt or Blue, Apollos customers are loyal and swear by the great food, prices and classy atmosphere.

For those of you that often enjoy appetizers more than entrees, Apollo might be your heaven.

Eating on campus: Because gaining the frosh 15 should be delicious

Stanford has an array of places to eat outside of the dining halls. Here is a carefully selected list with a few of the more well-known options that will likely satisfy any ProFro craving without involving a police search.

Olives

Olives, a Mediterranean-themed eatery in the basement of Building 160, has a nice range of options. From gyros and souvlakis to Mediterranean-styled burgers and pizza, Olives is a safe choice for lunch. For the early birds, Olives sells fruit cups and orange juice that are bound to satisfy a morning craving. Most dishes come with a choice of olive rice or couscous; rice is the more savory of the two. For the student on the run, Olives carries ready-made sandwiches and salads. Prices vary, and pizza is the least expensive meal item.

The Alumni Café

Located at the Arrillaga Alumni Building — where Admit Weekend check-in took place — this eatery is among the best on campus.
